The photograph above was shot as I was driving through the Lincoln Tunnel on August 4th, 2003.  It was the day that I moved to New York City.  Later that summer the image became the first post of a photoblog hosted at Blogger.  One year later, I moved everything over to manyhighways.com and also launched a more traditional text blog where I wrote about books, music and my summer travels.  A lot has changed since 2003.  I now live in Minnesota, the state where I grew up, and will be getting married in less than two months.  I also turn 30 today.

Because of the many wonderful changes in my life recently, now feels like the right time to bring the current incarnation of manyhighways to an end.  Every single word and photo that I’ve published here has been saved and some may even appear here again someday.  But for now, manyhighways will remain dormant until I figure out what to do with it.
